It is my birthday week and in my family birthdays are a big deal.
Growing up the moment I woke up my Mom would be there smiling and singing happy birthday. Then she would make a special lunch just for me. Of course I also got to pick the dessert (which is more important than the meal on birthdays!)
This year is a little different. My sisters and I are all “grown up” and out of the house now but my sweet Momma is flying all the way to the US to celebrate our birthdays.
We are all meeting in Austin for the festivities. First we are going to eat at some food trucks. Then we are going to make cookies and icecream and have icecream sandwiches. Delish! (Notice the focus is on dessert)
Cookies galore!
My family always makes birthdays so special that I forget how old I am turning. Instead I feel like a little girl in a princess themed party. It’s only when I get in the studio and these old hands have to make pieces that I realize I am not a little girl anymore.
