If you follow me on facebook, twitter, or google+ you already know I am going to the Ellen Show.
I was practically delirious when I won tickets and I am STILL so outrageously excited that I can hardly contain myself! I wake up every day and think ” I am going to the Ellen show”.
Whenever I get in a grumpy mood my husband says one word: “Ellen” and I instantly have a huge grin on my face. It is a little ridiculous to be honest!
While I know we all feel like we know Ellen because she emanates warmth and kindness (for goodness sake her eyes just SPARKLE happiness) I thought in appreciation for all she gives back to the community and to people, I wanted to share with her something I can do: ceramics
It all began with a suggestion that I give Ellen a Christie Cone Ceramics gift…but what? My awesome friend Rachel (of Regeared) suggested an armadillo. I thought that was perfect since we know Ellen loves animals. It doesn’t hurt that the armadillo is absolutely adorable.
Then my sister (who is going with me to the show) gave me an even BIGGER, even BETTER idea: to create a cowgirl Ellen to go with the armadillo!!!!
So I went straight to work in my studio making the pieces.
Cutting out the pieces
Making the cowgirls
Firing the pieces
Glazing the cowgirls
Loading the kiln…again
The Cowgirls and armadillo…before the break
Ellen and her pet Armadillo
Ellen upclose
Ellen rocking a cowgirl belt
As you can see I originally made an Ellen and a Portia but as is the nature of making ceramics, Portia broke. Sigh. (Ellen, if you want me to remake it just let me know. I don’t have time to do it before coming to the show but I’d be happy to.)
Did I mention I am going to the Ellen show? SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
