Once a month my grandmother and I have a date. We usually get lunch, go to museum and run some errands.

My grandmother is one of the most amazing women I know. She is always positive and ready to help others. She is also one of the most active people I know. Between meals on wheels, working in her church nursery, leading her Sunday school class, and volunteering anywhere that needs her, she still has time to show her family how much she loves them. She always writes me the sweetest emails and letters.

I truly treasure our special dates. They are a much needed monthly treat/escape for me from the studio.

I remember when I was younger, she used to tell us to think “cool thoughts like icecream” on hot summer days like we are having now. As I load my kiln, I use this technique to try to stay cool. Try it…I think it helps!

I recently had the honor of being the guest speaker at the Texas Pottery and Sculpture Guild (TPSG.biz)

They are a great local guild with members of all levels that are commmiteed to increasing awareness about ceramics.

I was so excited to share some techniques I have been using in my studio including printing with stamps,

drawing with wax,

coloring with underglazes,

making wall hangings and more.

I might have had more to show than we realistically had time for but the members were great and let me demo it all.

If I am not making ceramics, I am hanging out with my husband and my dogs.

Kelly (my hubby) and I got our puppies less than a year into our marriage and they have become our primary source of entertainment. I never knew I could love animals sooooo much.

Cabo sheds like crazy so my house is always in need of some serious sweeping.

Rida has to be shaved once a month. After her trim, I am covered in hair!

Example A: My hands are not usually covered w/ black hairs!

Life was much less hairy/furry before my dogs but now it is so much more fun!
